It’s the weekend we have all been waiting for, the special four-day bank holiday 2nd - 5th June which marks Elizabeth II’s historic 70 years on the throne.

There are things happening all over London, you will not be stuck for something to do or a place to celebrate. Here are 9 wonderful and fun ways to celebrate in SE1 London.

Bankside Open Spaces Festival Street Party

Friday 3rd June 12-9pm

Free Street Party with three stages of live music Flat Iron Square Main Stage, stalls and activities running down Union Street, a reflective art installation in Crossbones Graveyard, DJs and performances on the street kids’ crafts and sports in Marlborough Sports Garden, food, wellbeing activities and acoustic music in Red Cross Garden and down Redcross Way; and don’t forget the dog show!

Venues Include: Union street, Redcross Way, red Cross Garden, Marlborough Sports Garden & Crossbones Graveyard

Jubilee Celebrations at Borough Market

Thursday 2nd- Sunday 5th June

Celebrate with food fit for a queen in the beautifully dressed market with regal bunting, featuring vintage music from the last seven decades.

Traders will be competing to present the best decorated stall, and will be offering all of the incredible seasonal produce you need for a celebratory picnic, street party or barbecue.

Seven new recipes have been commissioned for the occasion – one for each decade of the Queen’s reign – which you pick up in a free Jubilee newspaper distributed at the market.

A Week of Celebrations at The St James of Bermondsey

Monday 30th - Sunday 5th June

Something for everyday of the week. It’s time to celebrate.

Monday 30th Craft Beer Club: Craft beer at £3.50 a pint.
Tuesday 31st Games night: Board games will be kept around the pub and people can help themselves
Wednesday 1st DJ night: Open until 2am
Thursday 2nd Themed Playlist: British hits through the years
Friday 3rd Fizz Friday: Bottle of Prosecco for £15 and 80's night playlist
Saturday Jubilee Concert screening: Indoor and outdoor
Sunday Quiz: You will need their phones for this quiz

Jubilee Sky Afternoon Tea at The Shangri-La

Available until 30th September 2022 and prices start from £65 per person.

Jubilee Skyline Afternoon Tea in TĪNG Lounge featuring a spectacular miniature chocolate and raspberry shard to share, alongside a selection of delicious Jubilee themed desserts including ‘The Pearl of the Queen’ – a pearlescent tonka, vanilla and strawberry gateaux, and a crowned lime and blueberry ‘Jubilee tart’.

Jubilee Exhibition at Imperial War Museum

May 27-Jan 8, 2023. Free.

Pop into the Imperial War Museum for its landmark new exhibition, ‘Crown and Conflict: Portraits of a Queen in Wartime’

It will trace the monarch’s personal experience of war through film, photography and poignant artefacts.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration at Potters Fields Park

Saturday 4th 4.00pm to 6.00pm and Sunday 5th June 1.00pm to 6.00pm 

A celebration for local residents.

Warm up on Saturday afternoon with a free glass of Prosecco and the New Orleans style jazz band Doolally Tap. Join them on Sunday for a free lunch from local restaurants Vapiano and Rosa’s Thai Cafe for residents with tickets, and a fun-filled line-up of events at the Bandstand.

Southbank Centre. Jun 1-5. Various prices.

Swing by the Southbank Centre for five days of irreverent Jubilee parties and performances including Duckie’s ‘Official’ and ‘Alternative’ Royal Command Performances and a screening of Danny Boyle’s new Sex Pistols series. There’s also an In Conversation event with the Oscar-winner himself.
